English Beef Pot Pie (#1810)

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Round Steak cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoons All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
  • 2 Carrots pared and sliced
  • 3 Potatoes peeled and sliced
  • 1 Onions large, thinly sliced
  • 16 oz Canned Tomatoes whole

Biscuit Topping

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable Shortening
  • 1/4 cup Milk

Directions

  1. Place steak cubes in crock-pot.
  2. Combine flour, salt and pepper, toss with steak to coat thoroughly.
  3. Stir in remaining ingredients except biscuit topping; mix, cover and cook on low setting for 7 to 10 hours.
  4. One hour before serving, remove meat and vegetables from crock-pot and pour into shallow 2 1/2 quart baking dish.
  5. Preheat oven to 425° f (220° c).
  6. Cover meat mixture with biscuit topping.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
  8. Biscuit topping:
  9. Mix dry ingredients.
  10. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
  11. Add milk all at one time, stir well.
  12. Pat out on floured board, roll out to cover baking dish.
