Ingredients

  • 1 cup Lentils dark
  • 1 cup Rice long-grain
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3 Onions chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil

Directions

  1. Put lentils & rice in separate pots.
  2. Pour enough boiling water over the lentils to cover them.
  3. Add 1 1/2 cup boiling water to rice.
  4. Simmer both pots, covered, over low heat for 20 minutes.
  5. Drain & combine in one large pot.
  6. Add salt & another 1/2 cup water.
  7. Cover & simmer 15 to 20 minutes until both rice & lentils are tender.
  8. Meanwhile, fry the onions in oil until golden.
  9. Stir them into the rice before serving.
